Queen of the Blogs, Arianna Huffington & Liane at the YSL party (ph: Delza Laxamana)
TASTY PIONEER: ARIANNA HUFFINGTON

- Liane Weintraub, Editor-in-Chief
If you happen to be a woman and have just launched your own blog/website, Arianna Huffington is pretty much an icon. Even if you aren’t a woman and have nothing to do with the web, it’s hard to escape her sphere of influence. Like her or not, Arianna has had an unmistakable impact on communications in our ever-changing world. She has always spoken her mind (even if she’s changed it, from time to time), and she’s commandeered technology to establish her voice as an authority.
Now, I’ll be honest: until not too long ago, I didn’t have a clue what a “blog” was. I’m still just getting the hang of it. I wasn’t one to look to the Internet for more than rudimentary research and the occasional gossip fodder. I was skeptical that there could be any substance in a “virtual” community. Needless to say, I’ve come around – but even before I embraced the idea and Tastybaby took up residence on the web, I knew that Arianna and her Huffington Post had become part of its center of gravity.
And now she’s launched the Mother-Daughter campaign which intends to celebrate the special relationship between mothers and daughters. The idea is, through blogs, letters and photos, women will celebrate other women (not only their actual mothers, but also mother figures, in every way that can be interpreted) in an effort to make the world a kinder, healthier place. Because making a positive impact in the world “is the antidote to the pervasive narcissism of our consumption-crazed culture.” And what could be tastier than that?!
For more on Arianna, check our her profile on WIkipedia and a recent article from Time Magazine.
I am honored that the great "Huff" even included an article I wrote in her esteemed "Fearless Voices" section of her site. Read my article on the Huffington Post
